Picked up my dress today from David's Bridal!  It took less than a month to come in :)  I love it but at the same time I'm still worried it's too much dress for me!  The details are amazing and it really is a WOW dress.  I still think about how my consultant told me I was the first bride she put this dress on.  Even if she was just trying to butter me up, it was an amazing thing to hear.  Made me feel like this dress was made for me.  I looked at the other dress I was really intrigued by but it just can't hold a candle to the one I finally went with.  Tears don't lie...right??

Weekend Fun

This weekend my work girls and I went to the Ventura Harbor for a day of fun.  Here's our trip in photo form:

Clam chowder in a bread bowl.  It's been far too long since I've had this.  Seriously one of the greatest comfort food combos in the world!  If I had to choose only one type of food to eat for the rest of my life it would be soup in a bread bowl!

side notes:
-FINALLY  finished The Hunger Games books.  Sad the series is over but overall pretty happy with how it all turned out.  It wasn't too cheese ball and you could sympathize with Katniss.  Her decisions were very human and real.  Now I understand why my big brother thought the main character was similar to me.  Quick temper, flawed but still has everyone's interests at heart.

-Saw The Hunger Games movie and was pretty pleased.  The pace was good but I just wish there was more...Maybe I need to see it one more time to be completely sure ;)

-No stray dog sighting :(

I haven't seen the little stray for a whole day now.  He must have gone into hiding because of the rain storm we just had :(  I hope he found somewhere dry!!  Before he disappeared he took a few naps in my driveway.  Had to warn the fiance to watch out for the dog when he pulled in so the little guy wouldn't get run over.  My mission for tomorrow is to get this dog to the local animal hospital and get him scanned!!!!

We meet again!

Blue and I encountered one of the stray dogs again!  He's real nervous and an all around strange little pup.  The weird thing is is that he has a collar on but no tag.  Very deja blue, I mean vu,  of how we found Blue.  My first 3 attempts to corral him into the yard were big fat failures.  The little one can trot away like no other!  Finally after putting 2 scoops of food out front and opening up the side gate he came right in.  Of course this was after 9pm which is a 1/2 hr past my usually bed time.  Then the little guy starts freaking out and digging under the fence, barking, whining and yapping.  So I set him free.  Not 10 minutes later he's back howling at Blue and I.  We don't know what to do because now it's REALLY late and I have to wake up at 3:50am.  So I put more food out front and go to sleep.

I wake up to the blissful sounds of barking and whining.  This isn't coming from faithful Blue, it's the stray AGAIN.  I let him in to the yard and he's doing fine UNTIL he snaps at Blue.  That is not OK in HER yard while he's eating HER food.  So I booted him.  He willingly went.  I love saving animals but not if it risks the safety of the primary animal of the house.  I'm hoping he's in my front yard when I come home from work today so I can take him directly to the local animal hospital and get him scanned and back to his rightful home.  Freaking animals....they get me every time!

The first day of spring DEFINITELY did not disappoint!  Took Blue out for a walk (because her papa didn't wake up early enough to run her) this morning and the weather was just gorgeous!  Two milestones happened on our little outing:
1-  Blue poohed for the first time on a walk!  This might seem gross to most people but it's never happened before in the time we've had her.  She also happened to do her business on a church lawn.  I thought about leaving it for a few seconds but knew if I did God would know!!  So we double bagged it.
2-  We met two little stray dogs.  Blue has never been around other puppies and I thought she would eat them but no violence occurred.  There were tail wags and sniffing to be had.  I'm so proud of my girl.  This proves that she can get along with others.  Later today I might walk her again and see if I can find the little strays to get them scanned.  I left some food out in the front yard to see if they stop by on their own :)


I'm also proud of myself for not spending a ridiculous amount during my weekly-ish Target trip with a good friend.  We found some super cute Easter duckies!  I had to add them to my growing collection :)

Tonight was a late-night-donut-run kind of night.  Thank goodness there is a Spudnuts shop close by!  Having them open 24/7 pretty much all year round definitely brings a smile to my face :)  Combining potatoes and donuts was pure genius!
The main reason for the late trip was to get some energy to perhaps finish off the Hunger Games series tonight! I'm really curious to how it all ends when everything is in such chaos.  I wonder if there can really be a solid ending to a series about social and political instability!  Can't wait for the movie to come out later this week.  Team Peeta bread!!!

Highlights from this week (which was much better than last):

-Officially became a permanent member of a (kick ass) Bioscience company, and having my name tag in orientation printed out in Disney font!!
-Purchased an amazingly crazy wedding dress that I would have never picked out for myself.  And yes there were tears involved.

-Had a massive girly sleepover

-Finally seeing the results of running at 4:00am in the morning with Blue (pup in the pic).  My pants fit again!!

Now time to get some new tunes and enjoy this beautiful weather!

This late in the afternoon (4ish) all I want to do is cuddle up on the couch and read a good book.      Seems like a pretty good end to my weekend :)
