DIY Origami Lily

What to do when I'm stuck sick in bed all day??  Fold origami lilies of course!

Supplies:

  • Origami paper (amazon selection of paper)
  • Something to curl petals (I'm using a skinny paint brush)
  • Instructions (the book I have is ok but I felt like I could simplify the steps a little more)

Let's get started:
Get your paper out and be ready to fold!
Fold in half corner to corner
Fold in half again...

and in half AGAIN!
Basic Base:
Now open up the paper and it should look like this :)

Fold in half again, corner to corner.
Fold IN one side using the creases as guidelines
Fold in the opposite side in the same manner

This completes the basic base

 Frog base:
Now fold up one of the flaps.  Spin your whole creation 180 degrees.
Flatten flap so the crease lines up in the middle
This is what you should have so far.  Repeat the above step for all remaining flaps.
Fold the sides in so they line up with the middle crease and no more white is showing.
.
Now unfold the tiny flaps
Carefully fold up the top flap so the tiny flaps come in and line up in the middle again and no white is showing.  Repeat the previous steps for all remaining flaps.
Flip your whole creation 180 degrees so the open flaps are facing up.  This completes the frog base!

Now on to the lily!
Fold up the middle triangle to face up with the open flaps.  Repeat with all remaining flaps.
Now open the flower so all you see is smooth paper.
Fold in the bottom sides so they line up with the middle crease.

Repeat for all smooth sides and this is where you should be  by the end.

Finishing touch ;)

Wrap the top open flaps around something skinny and round to get the curled petal look
And a million folds later you have yourself a paper lily!!!

Hope this tutorial was easy to follow and enjoy crafting it up!!

Sierra made sure I was doing everything correctly and that my feet stayed nice and toasty!!

You have a shopping addiction...

...when you go to the mall expecting to only buy ONE outfit and end up with a random assortment of crap!

-another maxi dress (blue of course)
-silky button up shirt
-flowy swirly tank top ($5 at H&M!  My first time ever buying something from this store.  I <3 them now)
-silkly robe (the only reason I bought it is because of the color and design = total impulse buy)
-2 pairs of sunglasses...one's kind of crazy (animal print with white and turquoise, so fun)
-skinny black jeans

Wore one of my new fav outfits today too!  Got lots of compliments on my 1920-30's necklace.  It's actually a label from an old eye shadow product.  It's so enchanting!  Great find from Melrose Trading Post!

Look at those eyes!

This is on the back.  2 for one necklace.

Over sized sheer blue shirt (Q) with black leggings (Charlotte Russe) and a black tank (Costco)

Tried to get a shot of the necklace
After all of my shopping I met up with a dear friend and P-O-ed! (pigged out).  It's so good to just gossip and talk about non sense sometimes :)  Red Robins filled our tummies to the max!

Mint Chocolate chip brownie shake

Sweet potato fries, fried onions and steak fries.  With 4 different sides of dipping sauces!!

Blue Bullet

Finally felt confident enough to sport the ponytail

my "bad ass" biker vest from Forever 21.  Every girl needs a little leather (even if it's fake)!

Blue bullet necklace (Melrose Trading post flea market) and awesome pin borrowed from Tony's stuff ;)

Sunday Fun

Finally made it out to Melrose trading post with my fashionista friend!  We've been talking about this flea market for ages!  The planning was all thrown together super last minute (very much both of our styles, haha).  Besides the lame hot weather of LA it was an awesome day.  The instant we walked into the sea of pop up tents my head was turning back and forth.  There's so much to look!!

I fell in love when I first saw these hanging terrariums in a magazine a couple years ago, so when I saw this booth I knew I was going to walk away with one of these tiny gardens.

Gorgeous artwork!  I couldn't stop looking at the golden crown heart in the back .

Best dog EVER!  No maintenance needed with this one :)
There was a crazy bug booth that I had to go investigate.  I was both creep-ed out and mesmerized!

Computer mice

My kind of blue
This color was everywhere at the market.  Wish I could have taken home some of these frames/ mirrors.  Such a fun color!

My very own hanging terrarium :) At last!

Kit #2 & #3

This is long over due!  I received my second kit of baby bottles of booze at least a couple of weeks ago.  Until recently I haven't had time to "train" as we call it at work :)

Kit #2 = RUM
Also part of Kit # 2
The discoveries from this kit is Malibu rum is perfect for my body!  I don't taste the alcohol and am able to maintain an awesome buzz without the harsh effects of a hang over :) It seems so smooth and fulfilling.  Koloa rum is a whole different story.  That stuff messes with me hardcore.  It seems a little stronger and I could definitely taste the alcohol right away.  I mixed Koloa and malibu red rum with some cherry coke zero.    Mixed the malibu cranberry-cherry rum with fruit punch mix.  A pretty amazing mix.

Kit # 3
So my man has been liking my alcohol training so much that he went out and got me another kit of rum.  It's so cute that he's helping me through this rigorous and fun exercise.  My tolerance is definitely building :)

Weekend Blur

Bridal party!

Flower children

Ameci's Il Giganti

Balls!!!!! (I know I still need to post instructions for making these bad boys)
My amazing bridal party came over for one full day to help make a dent in wedding decorations.  There were paper flowers everywhere along with balls, haha!  It was so nice to have the help.  I still have a long way to go but we definitely made some progress!

At one point this weekend the wedding details got the best of me.  I had to separate myself completely from anything wedding related.  Even wedding shows that I LOVE had to be ignored.  In the interest of my mental health I went shopping with two of my fav girls at an amazing mall.  We spent basically 7 plus hours just walking around and going cray cray with our purchases.

Cripsy Rice Tuna

5 bags = happiness

Not sure why but I <3 this purchase the most.  Checklist for groceries!  Does this mean I'm getting super old?!

p.s. I'm super excited to hang out with my family this weekend.  Years ago I would have NEVER said anything like that but distance from the fam bam makes the <3 grow fonder :)
